Sports Timing New Zealand (STNZ) was established in 2004 by Nic Cavanagh. With many years of experience as a senior event manager and a passion for all things sporting, it was a natural progression for Nic to create New Zealand's only nationwide sports timing company.

In 2010, long time employee Richard (Charlie) Brewer was made the General Manager of the South Island, as STNZ looked to expand their capabilities from the far north to the deep south.
